Star Wars Outlaws focuses on the criminal underworld of the galaxy, where nefarious crooks prey on hapless victims and where deals are often deadly. As Kay Vess, you have to navigate this web of intrigue while you work for four shady organizations. Here's our guide on the faction reputation rewards in Star Wars Outlaws.
Star Wars Outlaws faction reputation rewards guide
Our Star Wars Outlaws faction reputation rewards guide discusses the goodies that you can get upon attaining high standing with the game's four criminal organizations: the Pyke Syndicate, Crimson Dawn, Hutt Cartel, and Ashiga Clan. We also talk about a few tips when it comes to contracts and maximizing your reputation gains.
Tips to max out your reputation
If you want to increase reputation in Star Wars Outlaws, we best advise prioritizing the campaign first. That's because several main missions can significantly affect your standing with certain factions. Here are some examples:
- Key decisions in the campaign have you siding with one faction and stymieing the efforts of another.
- Some missions take you to the territories of rival factions. Trespassing or attacking NPCs there would lower your rating.
Once you're done with a majority of the main missions and you reach the point of no return (you'll know it when it happens), that would be the best time to focus on faction reputation. Here are some additional tips:
- The Star Wars Outlaws faction reputation thresholds, from worst to best, are: Terrible, Bad, Poor, Good, Excellent, and Max.
- The higher your reputation, the better the benefits. These include cheaper merchant prices, exploring settlements or hubs freely, additional contracts to tackle, and valuable rewards.
- Conversely, low reputation causes merchants to sell goods at exorbitant prices, hubs that bar you from entering (you have to find another way inside), settlements that are automatically hostile, and fewer contracts to choose from. At "Terrible" reputation, a faction may even send an assassin to take you out.
- You can sell key items to faction vendors to increase your standing with them.
Types of contracts and which ones to prioritize
Star Wars Outlaws factions have several brokers across the galaxy, and they have a few contracts that you can undertake. You can have up to three contracts per planet:
- Select the "Manage" option if you wish to cancel a contract. There are no penalties if you do this.
- If you attempt a contract (i.e. go to the location) and you fail, you lose reputation with the faction that hired you. If this activity involves stealing from a rival faction and you get caught, then your failure and arrest will cause you to lose reputation with both those factions--the one that hired you and the one that you tried to steal from.
- You can pick a contract to track via the Journal menu. You can also press the corresponding button to show the location on the map if you want to find a nearby fast-travel point.
In any case, here are the types of faction contracts:
- Thief - Steal an item from an NPC or area.
- Infiltrator - Find a terminal and slice it.
- Enforcer - Steal cargo from a hostile territory.
- Smuggler - Pick up an item and deliver it to a location. Fast-travel isn't allowed so you have to go by speeder. Enemies will also attack you along the way.
For best results, try to boost a single faction's reputation up to the maximum level first. If you're unable to do that, then try to be on good standing with a few. This helps because some of these contracts lead you to the territories of rival factions. If you're in good standing with them, you can enter their hubs and settlements without being attacked.
For example: You have a Thief job from the Pyke Syndicate to steal an item from an NPC in the Crimson Dawn's district. If the Crimson Dawn doesn't view you as an enemy, you can waltz right in and find your target. Then, use Nix to steal the item and leave without any issues.
